Prototek Manufacturing Contoocook NH

Prototek Manufacturing began in 1987, as a family owned and operated business as a supplier of quick turn precision sheetmetal and machined products for the prototype markets. Today we are still a family owned and operated business and have recently launched into rapid production as well. Our quality and turn times continue to be among the best in the industry. Serving industries such as robotics, semi-conductor, telecommunications, military, pharmaceutical, medical, computer technologies and aeronautics, Prototek Manufacturing now has machining, plating, painting, powder coating, silk screening and assembly capabilities all under the same roof to help save our customers time and money on their finished parts requirements.

Prototek Manufacturing multi-station punch press and 4000 watt laser run 24/7 which means faster turn times for our customers. Our highly qualified staff of employees take measures to ensure parts flow through our manufacturing process quickly and efficiently. Each operation goes through an in-process inspection to ensure the highest level of quality.

Our website offers a live chat module that customers can utilize to ask questions to any of our office staff. This live chat is manned during normal business hours. In addition, our customer service team is focused on answering any questions our customers may have regarding ship dates, rev changes and order status, assuring they are satisfied every step of the way. RFQ that are sent to fastquote@prototek.com or uploaded directly through one of our websites will receive a quote within a day. Prototek Manufacturing can work with many files including dxf, stp (step), iges, pdf, Pro-E, Solidworks, Autocad and Inventor files.

A daily production meeting provides a clear line of sight of our manufacturing objectives and helps to reinforce our quick turn requirements. Our sophisticated scanning software program helps to control raw material inventory, eliminate bottlenecks and track jobs on the manufacturing floor. Our suppliers are carefully chosen to meet our just in time needs by delivering materials within a day for those rare materials we do not stock. Prototek™ manufactures and ships products throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, according to our customers rapid requirements, utilizing trucking companies that offer next day shipping, LTL and full truck load deliveries.

Prototek remains the industry leaders of rapid prototyping . . . and now rapid production, of precision sheetmetal and machining fabrication.

Prototek has added a production line to their sheet metal and machining prototype manufacturing plant

Prototek is known for their rapid production rates of sheet metal, machined metals and plastics, and stereolithography parts. But now, after moving to a new 40,000 square foot facility, they are building an additional 30,000 square foot building! This new building will be for the rapid production line Prototek hopes to incorporate into their head-of-the-industry business.

Prototek has always been able to handle the rapid prototyping of parts in a matter of days. In fact, it's their specialty. But as they are growing, as are their customers, new demands are placed on the production of large quantity jobs for the military, medical society, pharmaceutical, and the like. “We've taken on most production jobs, but we always have to push the ship date back to ensure our specialty of rapid prototypes go out the door. If we want to produce rapid production parts, we're going to basically need a whole new facility to keep the jobs separated. We have a close to perfect systematic process for everything, and that of production is far different than prototyping,” stated Nick Isabelle, programmer and SLA director at Prototek.

Some of these changes would require a laser/punch combo all-nighter manufacturing cell. It would have a self loader connected to all the racks of sheetmetal. No human control is required for days, as the machine would pull sheet metal off the rack, punch it, laser cut it, tap, countersink, and bend it, then stack them on a conveyor belt . Prototek would need at least three more brakes. The ones being researched now have a robotic arm with “teach” mode. This allows the brake operator to hold the part with the robotic arm while bending the first part, and the robot will do the rest! The same concept applies to the state-of-the-art robotic welding cells and their teach mode, which Prototek is also seriously looking into getting for their new building. Prototek is adamant about producing the parts customers expect, at an unprecedented rate, and Prototek is the fastest producers of sheet metal and machined parts in the country, and quite possibly the world.

Prototek Manufacturing decreases lead times by another 20%!

Prototek continues to decrease lead times, making them the fastest rapid manufacturing and prototype sheet metal and machine shop plant in the country, and possibly the US. Prototek has incorporated painting, plating, powder coating, and silk screening to their list of capabilities, as well as maintaining a large stock of material, PEM hardware, and assembly hardware. These new additions allow Prototek to save the customer days of production time, lowering average lead times by 20%!

Prototek is now able to carry many colors and textures of paint and powder coat, eliminating the need to send sheet metal and machined metal parts out to multiple vendors. They can also plate prototype and production parts with RoHS chromate, anodize, and iridite, and silkscreen in any color and any size.

Prototek's stock of sheet metal is key in producing quality parts in a limited time frame. With six large rack systems, they almost always have the required material in stock. The same can also be said about their nine large hardware racking systems, carrying about one thousand types of hardware at any given time!

Production meetings are held early every day, covering all jobs coming in, jobs to be programmed, jobs being worked on on, and jobs that have to ship. This allows for all managers to be on the same page, and in a team fashion, strategically place employees on jobs and departments as they see fit to maintain their rapid prototype and production lead times.
